Solved: Paradise by the dashboard light (girls remix)
« on: December 25, 2013, 04:20:00 PM »
My Christmas present for you is a group puzzle. Below you find some dashboards and a couple of girls (or women). Just find the cars which the dashboards belong to and the girls they are connected with. Some of the connections are straightforward, some are plain hints, others are tricky. Have fun!

The experts didn't like my Christmas present. Let's see how the pros cope with this New Year's greeting.

Girl D is French actress and singer Mistinguett (real name Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois).

She is known to have owned a 1935 Panhard x73 Panoramique Coupé, which still exists, and that matches with Dashboard 1.

Happy New Year, Tom. I was counting on you.  :)
Your answer is correct. It is not the dashboard of the Mistinguette car which is a X73, but of its predecessor X69. I saw the Mistinguette car three years ago in the Lohéac museum, a real beauty.

As always a shot in the dark to begin this challenge.  Dashboard n.4 seems an Autobianchi Primula coupe'...in the Movie "La Primula Rossa", the main actress was Merle Oberon whose first movie was Anna Bolena that I suppose to be the last girl of your list.  Happy new year Gerd, and thank you for this new exiting quiz.

Your shot in the dark was rather a near miss. The dashboard doesn't belong to an Autobianchi, but to another Italian car of that time. Your guess about the girl sounds interesting, but it is completely off target. Happy new year to you, too.

And a Happy New Year to all.

Girl B is Kim Novak playing Moll Flanders in the 1965 film The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders.

Dashboard 9 is a Mollmobil made by Moll-Werke, Chemnitz, so I'm hoping that "Moll" is the link.

Dashboard 11 is from the 1965 Autonova Fam.

I think I see enough of the car in Girl H to determine that it is the Autonove Fam, unfortunately I don't know who the girl in the picture is.

So, pictures 2 & H, with the connection being the Autonova Fam.

If I take what you meant (11 - H) and not what you wrote (2 - H), it is all correct. I don't know the girl either. Those girls are mainly for spicing this puzzle up and to tell you where to go (just like in real life  8) ).

Thanks Gerd.  I don't know where that 2 came from.  I guess I need to hire a proofreader.

Happy 2014!

Girl L is Miss America of 1954, Evelyn Ay Sempier, sitting in a 1954 Nash Metropolitan.

I don't think I see a Nash Metropolitan dashboard among the thirteen, so I'm guessing the connection is the girl.  Dashboard 4 looked like it could be from a Fiat 124 "Eveline" Coupe Vignale,  but the steering wheel wasn't right, so I thought it might be a tuner modification.  Sure enough, the dashboard pictured is from an ad for a 1969 Giannini Vignali Eveline which is/was for sale in 2012.

So, pictures 4 & L, with the connection being Eveline/Evelyn.

Dashboard 6 is from the new Equus Bass 770 From Equus Automotive of Detroit.

Girl J (unknown to me) playing a bass guitar.

So, pictures 6 & J, with the connection being bass.

Correct! I guess that girl was, although being American, more famous in Europe. It is Suzi Quatro.

I recognized both the Giannini Eveline (but I didn't know the name of Miss America), and Suzy Quatro, whose poster was in my room during the late seventies (but I was searching for an Audi Quattro or another 4wd)....this quiz is very difficult in my opinion.

This one is a bit of a reach, but here goes.

Girl M is Marie Thérèse (1778-1851) Duchess of France.

Dashboard 10's shape reminds me of an MG dashboard but the instrument layout, and steering wheel aren't original.  However, this dashboard looks like it could be a custom layout for a MGTD Duchess replica kit car.

So I'll try: pictures 10 & M, with the connection being Duchess.
