Was it a two-stroke ( maybe outboard motor-type ) engine?

Bingo! It was indeed an outboard engine, but that isn't really enough to warrant a lock. What is the car?

All correct - another ingenious homebuilt car from Down Under.

I dread to think what the power delivery was like. Don't outboards produce all the power in one rush, at max revs?
