On the few items I can find it claims the car competed in F2 - I'm pretty sure it's in F3 spec because all the results I can find are for Alessandro Guidetti in F3 races. The confusion probably arises because from 1971 both formulae were for 1600cc production-based engines - the F3 engines had "breathing" restrictions.

I think I've found it - Pellin-Alfa Romeo? (I don't know why I said Birel because it looks nothing like one!)
Pellin is the first part of the name : find the other one (not Alfa Romeo-it was only the engine)!

I have seen it referred to as a Pellin-Modena. Is this the answer? I've never heard of this car until this quiz! There are photos on the web showing a car sold at auction in recent times, but this is the only photo I can find in period.

Was there an Italian national F2 championship, in fact?

the car raced during the 1971 season in the Italian Formula 2 championship: I believe only four races (I've read Monza and Imola)

I've checked entry lists for the F2 races in that season, and there's no mention of the Pellin marque. However the car did take part in 3 rounds of the Italian F3 Championship -

1)  May 2 1971 - Imola - Round 4 - DNF
2) July 24 1971 - Imola - Round 7 - DNF
3) Sept 19 1971 - Monza - Round 8 - DNQ

This appears to be the same car today. There are a few minor changes but they are cosmetic, and the car has been repainted in traditional Ferrari colours with gold wheels. I'm fairly sure that only one car was ever built.
