What marques is this, and what powered the car?

It is European, but not Italian.

Well known brand or obscure?

I would consider the marque as reasonably well-known to an AP member. They made hundreds of cars, not just a handful.

D'Yrsan?

Yes! We had another one on AP recently, posted after my own puzzle, and it was solved quickly. Mine has been hanging around. I'll give you the point now - it was powered by the usual Ruby engine, like many small French sporting cars.

I selected this puzzle photo because 1) it is a 4-wheeled d'Yrsan, and they only made about 50, compared to several hundred 3-wheel cars, and 2) this car does not have the usual marque radiator badge of a large letter "Y", so I thought it might be harder to solve.

Well done.

Exactly that puzzle lead me to D'Yrsan! Early French cars aren't my speciality but I'm reading a lot about them now. And it pays off  :)
