For a point, who made this, and what is it based on?

Dog gone Valkyrie, you are close enough to get the point.

British farmer David Isaac couldn't sell his battered old Peugeot 306 Estate, so he decided to turn it into a giant dog to keep the sheep on his East Sussex farm in order, as one does

Are you sure?  Because the french press (in lot of different new's papers) writte it's a PEUGEOT 405 ESTATE, and not 306.

I spotted this image in the Observer Group news pages - the local newspaper to David Isaac's farm - which stated that this was based on a Peugeot 306 Estate.  I've not seen any other photos to verify if this car is a 306 or 405 (e.g. interior, etc.) so went with what the local newspaper said.  Happy to change this if you or someone else can prove it otherwise.  Thanks.

The source I used when I posted this over in the Featured Imagery section referred to the base car simply as "an old Peugeot estate", but I did find an interior photo if it is of any help in identifying the model.

From the shape of the steering wheel I would say 405..

In various years, the 306 and 405 have really similar interiors.  In particular, they seem to have shared that steering wheel, and have similar instrument panel designs.

After looking at too many pictures, I suspect it is a 405 as well.  I have not found an image of a 306 with that same triangular bit at the top of the arm rest, by the dashboard.

Let's face it, if the Press said it was a 306 it's pretty well a certainty to be any Peugeot except a 306...

I ran a Peugeot 306 for over 100,000 miles, and that's not a 306 dashboard. I also think it's a 405.

OK, I'm willing to concede that this is based on a Peugeot 405, and not a 306, as looking at an old 405 brochure the steering wheel and instrument panel look the same, so the subject heading now updated.
