This one has spent its 2 weeks with the Experts so has reached its time to move up, but surely this is not a Pro puzzle?
No Experts want to have a go?

Clearly not so easy. I couldn't get it out of my head that it was a chopped Tornado Talisman, but I'm sure it isn't. Then I thought about GSM Delta, but no.......

Is it a British GRP shell from the 50s/60s ?

It's neither a Tornado nor a GSM Delta.
It's said to be from the 60s, yes, though I have an idea that the body is from somewhat later than that..

Interestingly enough, I was thinking about this one when I was working last night, and also thought Triumph. So I've had a look through the web, but alas cannot find a thing.

Spitfire based?

With that cut-down tinted screen it looks like an SCCA racer, but it has a licence plate. Is it LHD ?

Of course!
As can be seen from the pictures below the car is 1964 registered (although of course anyone can fit such a number to almost any car) so is probably based on a 1964 Spitfire, but the body is a Sammio from the 21st century.  The seller made no mention whatsoever of the Sammio body, just that it's a 1964 Special, though no mention was made of what 'ASF' stands for either; I think it's the builder's initials...
Actually I'm pretty sure this car has featured before, in one of my own puzzles, but I can find no sign of it at all!
