Absolutely right, though I'm disappointed no-one suggested it was one of the cars from the UFO TV series!
The Ford engine which powered it was the 1.6 litre Kent engine as fitted to Ford Cortinas etc.

I believe the car was actually one of three made at the same time by Alan Mann Racing for UFO, but in fact only two of them ever appeared in it.  This car seemed to be superfluous, but all three later appeared in the movie 'Doppelganger', which was the puzzle car's only ever outing.
