Detailed description
Completion of the #2493 took place in May 1961 at the Ferrari workshop. The first registration happened on 16th of May 1961 in Milan with the license plate 'MI 557 298. In 1978, this 250 GT Drogo 2493 was built up with an aluminum body by Piero Drogo as well as with racing specifications.
It is the original Drogo aluminum body, which was commissioned in 1964 and initially mounted on the chassis 0716TR (Ferrari 250 TR). Former racer Piero Drogo had founded the business Piero Drogo's Carrozzeria Sports Cars in 1961 and was for example responsible for the legendary Ferrari Breadvan as well as for the noses of the Ferrari 250LM and the P-prototypes.
This Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa from 1957 with the chassis number 0716 TR was successful at several races from 1964 to 1977 with exactly this Drogo aluminum body:
Race 1964: GP John Kennedy em Interlagos
Race 1965: GP Race Rio de Janeiro / 1st place
Race 1967: Rio de Janeiro Campeonato Carioca
Race 1967: Circuito de Petropolis / 1st place
Historic pictures prove this. 2014 was the last time for the 0716 TR to undergo a complete restauration in the Ferrari factory, there it got a new 250 TR body, according to the original versions.
Offered and fully operational 250 GT Drogo is very light due to the aluminum body and with about 300 hp also very fast. Lightweight, 300P hp and outstanding aerodynamics lead to an impressive performance and pure emotion of this unique vehicle.
The history of this 250 GT Drogo today 2493GT has been documented by the Ferrari historian Marcel Massini and very closely linked to the history of the legendary 250 TR 0716, which has already made history with this DROGO aluminum body.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional and unique Drogo racing car, with which you can participate both at Concours and race events and which brings you great joy at all times.
