OK, here goes,  from 2003 : -

"Photo received from ... (Australia) who saw this car with a Bradford badge for sale in a yard in Queensland. From the appearance of the radiator grille, the small headlamps and wheel pattern, we would say that the car in the photo is a  home made 2 seat 'special' based on a mid/late forties Jowett Bradford commercial chassis. Bradfords were based on a two cylinder 7HP 1939 Jowett car."

Wikipedia: The Jowett Bradford was a British light van that was produced from 1946 to 1953 by Jowett Cars Ltd of Idle, near Bradford, England. The vehicle was also available as an estate car from 1947 to 1953.  The vehicle was based on the pre-war Jowett Eight and was the first Jowett to be re-introduced after the Second World War.  (except that it was the seven not eight).

But then this info spoils the fun for the others!!

Regards

Vintman

Can't help smiling - can you think of any vehicle less suitable to be converted into a "sports" car ? I remember Bradford vans on the street when I was a kid - they were completely gutless for acceleration, but had extraordinary torque which enabled them to just plod on and on and on  up an incline, albeit at about 5mph.

(PS Bradford is pronounced by the locals as Bratfet)
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Knowing Australian ingenuity it may have been re-engined.  But I don't think even they could quite get a Holden engine into something that small   ;)
