I have found an internet site that says this Czech Aero 30 roadster was built in 1994, on a base dating from about 1936, but the coachbuilder is not identified.

Yes, it must be the same site I got it from, which says (translated from German):

QUOTE
The following photo shows a 1994 Aero roadster (built starting about 1936) with a fixed windscreen, external Verdeckspriegeln and special tail shape. This overall design is similar to the Convertible version, which was made by Sodomka (see bottom photo).
UNQUOTE

It's not actually clear though whether it's based on a 1936 car or a 1936 design!
I guessed it was a 1936 car otherwise it would have said what modern mechanics it had.

Solved anyway and maybe an Aero expert can enlighten us..

I guessed it was a 1936 car otherwise it would have said what modern mechanics it had.

It just says that the photo was taken in 1994, not that the car was built then. The car is based on a Aero 50 Roadster, built in 1936 or later (because of the portholes in the engine cover).

The use of typical Wartburg 311 rear lights makes me think that it was built in the early 60s or before. These rear lights were often to be seen on older cars in East Germany or Czechoslovakia when the original lights were considered to be unsafe.

Thanks.  How should it be captioned then?  Simply a 1936 Aero 50 Roadster?
