Time to get this puzzle solved, and not just let it languish. Car 2: A car (possibly an Opel Kapitän from about 1939) equipped with an Imbert type Holzgas generator. - Place 4: A scene from the 1949 British film "The Third Man" which was filmed on location in early postwar Vienna.
It's the connection that I'm having trouble with. The location of the car, given the marque and Holzgas generator, could be early post war Vienna, it might even be a scene from the film as well. However, I suspect that you want something more for a connection than just Vienna. The only other connection that I can think of is that the film's plot dealt with stolen and altered/diluted black market penicillin, which might be somewhat analogous to using wood as a motor fuel via the Holzgas generator. A reach, I know, but it is all I can come up with.
