Old Race Cars Never Die #2591 - 1971 Dio/Ambro "Special"
« on: April 12, 2014, 04:05:43 AM »
For one point: ID the car, and the bits underneath that swoopy body.

Only a correct, complete and specific answer will earn a point; tag-on's to other guesses will not. So, be specific and complete!

I found those Dio T61 replicas, and thought NO. Can't be. They are normally fitted with 2-litre engines, way too small for a US motor.
Serves me right for not pursuing the matter.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I hadn't realised that these cars originally dated from the 60s. The first one built was based on a TR3A, although others, like this one, had larger engines. The present-day company which builds replica bodies was established in 1991, and they are intended for TR3 or MGA mechanicals. Another gap in my knowledge is filled.
