Yes. Not much room in there. I'm asking myself why it's in the desert - is it used for ranch work of some kind?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Sorry for all the questions, but.....

Not border-patrol work !
It was used in USA, but not for a work ; it is rather a precursory car !

If it's not for work, then it must be for play. D-Type had an unanswered question - was it for competition of any kind, like early off-road racing?

Not a land speed record !

Was it meant to attempt another type of record, for example fuel consumption, or to show the potential of a new invention?

Not a race !
The conception of the vehicle allows to make certain "exploits "( But it seems very common now )

Could this vehicle be a precursor to the modern day dune/sand/desert buggy?

It is simply a movie about a rather solid car to jump into dunes in 1934 !
1 point for Bill !

Thanks for the point.............

I just watched the preview of the video and it was quite interesting.

Particularly in that the suspension seems to have not been modified for this particular task and the car bounces all over the place.
As well, the occupant protection seems to be limited to the body work with no particular "in car" restraints as both the driver and passenger seem to be about to be thrown out of the vehicle several times.
