It seems to be a MGA. I recently found it online. They said it could be a Wendler design, but after all it remained a mystery car for the poster.

In post no 6 we were told it's a TD and the wheels and registration details (1951 and 1250cc) back that up.
The Wendler suggestion was also turned down in post 6

I also found a very similar-looking car, MGA-based, on line, which was referred to as 'MGA-Porsche' because it looked a bit 356-ish. It's not the same car as the puzzle car, however. I don't know if that might be the one you're referring to?

Just to clarify my thinking that the car may be the Sparrowe MG Special, I can show you a couple of indistinct photos of the car competing at Goodwood in 1955.

I have to stress this in no way is a positive identification but is merely a possibility.

As far as one can tell from your interesting Goodwood picture, the shape of the rear side window, of the rear window and of the wheel arches seem to be different.

Yes I agree.
It was a long shot and I don't think it's the same car but nevertheless somewhat similar.
