A proposal for dealing with dusty roads?

It seems, that the driver had to reach and leave his place quickly to use this strange thing.

Is that a passengers seat over the rear axle?

Then this would be a RHD car.

Is it from GB or it colonies?

Otto Puzzell

An early attempt at ram-induction, with the large funnel compressing the incoming charge, at speed?

Not British, and not from a British colony. The description that I have of the mechanical working of this vehicle are a bit ambiguous. I hadn't looked at it that way yet, but the description can be interpreted as a sort of ram-induction.

My original interpretation of the text made me think that it would only run in reverse....

(I have a year, name of the builder and place for this car)

faksta

Is it an early snow plug or something?

guido66

No, Otto was closest so far

Rather than ram-induction to a gasoline engine, was the funnel used to deliver more air to a fire, to generate more heat in a boiler?

Whether it's right or not, it's a damned good guess.  Something I sure hadn't thought of.

Cheers,

Air is the only technical detail I'm certain about. It's a bit newer than 1927.

The maker of this car was also a writer. In the National Library Catalogue one book can be found, and it's from the same year as the car.

Otto Puzzell

Continued searching for Car + Huge + Funnel uncovered only this.... ;D

pnegyesi

is the car from pre-1930?

guido66

No, it's a very little bit more recent

Was this published in a daily paper?

guido66

Yes indeed, but the newspaper I've found it in is from another country as the car.

pnegyesi

was this published in a Dutch-language newspaper?

guido66

pnegyesi

does the word "auto" appear in the article?

guido66

This way you'll find it eventually. And you'll be learning some Dutch in the meantime.  ;)
