This is not a german vehicle.

But you should be one of the guys who might know this vehicle better than most of us... ;)

Is it possibly a Fiat 621 E by Viberti of about 1938?  Electric power.

I am deeply impressed.

Very, very good. I have bought an original press photo some time ago and you are completely right!

Thanks for the kind words.

1.  I chased the marque Phänomen for a few hours because it looks so much like one.
2.  As soon as you wrote that Fabrizio should be able to make the identification, some bells went off and I remembered a similar vehicle I had seen earlier.  Not the same as you can see, but similar.
3.  I have not yet found your photo on the internet and the source of my photo gave no coach builder but Viberti built thousands of Fiat busses and other commercial vehicles so it was an "educated guess".

If you need the source for my photo, I can PM it to you.  Is it possible for you to post the unedited version of your puzzle?

Bill

Well done Bill,
I don't know about Fabrizio, but I am banging my head against the wall...

Banging with your head against a wall for half an hour burns ca. 150 calories - just try to see the positive side... ;D

Hi Luciano/Fabrizio:

I am sorry in a sense that I was lucky to remember the photo I posted as a way to come to the answer that took away the chance for either of you to solve the puzzle.

This does bring up another research question, at least for me.

I have spent maybe 4 hours on Italian websites as well as using Google and the book reference material that I have and these are the only two photos of an electric Fiat I can find. I also have some good sites bookmarked regarding Viberti and that did not help either.

And, Burkhard, thank you for posting the original image.  Very nice.  I did Google the vehicle type on Google.it and did not find any new images of older bus/tram maintenance vehicles.  Still a bit of a mystery........

Bill

I find it hard to believe there were only 2 Fiat 621 E vehicles manufactured and wonder if either of you can provide any more information on this vehicle.
Cheers
Bill

This is why I was so surprised that this was solved so quickly ;)

I think the English words would be.....

Memory, which is quickly going away at age almost 75.

Intuition....  Your tip was very valuable and got me on a specific track.

Luck, I had remembered the other photo from perhaps a year ago on another search.

And finally, a decision to make a guess.  This is something you know I do not like to do.  I like to positively identify any of my proposed puzzle solutions.  Once in a while, I violate this rule and take a chance.  In this case, I was lucky.

That is was solved "so quickly" is perhaps not quite the case, as I had spent so many hours on research before it moved from rookie to expert to  professional.  Once it move to my level, I had to take a chance.

Thanks again for the opportunity to solve a puzzle.

Bill
