I think it's one of the ones I lost in my broken HD...is it a Ford used in a particular trip?

No Ford.

It is a european car.

1914 Mercedes 60 PS  made for a Mr. Mc Coy, an American living in France. It was used by French Generalissimo Joftre during WW I.

Yes that was a typing mistake, the information comes from November 22nd 1914 issue of the "Allgemeine Automobil-Zeitung"

Mr. Mc Coy the American Express representative in France bought the car in 1913 for 35,000 francs and used it for long journeys through Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. When war broke out it was seized by the French Government  and assigned to Genralissimo Joseph Joffre, which was rather strange considering it was a German car.
