Built for a special purpose - i.e., a purpose that could not be fulfilled by an 'ordinary' automobile?

It looks like a close relative of this car, one of a series of Zaporozhets-powered cars built by a guy names "Stig". No, not that Stig. This Stig runs a blog, where he say's that's not his real name. I'm not sure what to think of people who post online using pseudonyms, but it is what it is.

Perhaps this will guide this someone to the answer.

I don't think so. Barrett said it's Skoda based, so it's most likely not a Zaporozhets underneath.

With Barrett going AWOL, I figured maybe we could strike his comments from the record.  :D

Or, perhaps he, and/or I, found wrong info.  :o

Stig's cars are pretty cool, in a way. One almost looks like an origami SAAB 900

He's the same guy who built this one:

No connection to Stig or his cars, this was Skoda-based and built in Poland. the information about this car is available online but I don't know how I can find it again because I lost my bookmarks.

His first name is incredibly common, his Surname is similar (but not identical) to an Austrian motoring magazine editor..!

I believe that it is based on a front engined car, most probably a 440/Felicia or perhaps a 1200

I think the best way to find the name is to guess on my last clue!
