I remember this being advertised as a build your own car body from foam. It was a how to book, that was advertised in kit car magazines from the late 1980's to early 1990's. Car pictured was made on a Pontiac Fiero platform, with a rear window from the second generation camaro/firebird...used as the windshield. Fiero speedster was the name..or speedster something, was part of the name.

You're right that it's a kit car, and the era is right too, but it's not Fiero-based and doesn't have Speedster in its name
