Can you identify this slick pickup, and tell us where was this picture taken?
I know the answer to the second question. The first is a puzzle for me too.

Should be a Gaz M 20 Pobeda pick up. Trolleybus in the background is a Russian MTB 82 ( over 3500 built )

You must be absolutely right, although I can't find an image of it in pickup form (I find only model cars). So the first point goes to you.

You didn't fully answer the question, but you'll get that second point if:
- you name the town and year
- or produce a another photo of  such a pickup.

That's the photo of the pick up.

Please note it's not exactly the same as the one in your picture. Also it seems the pick up was not produced in house but by indipendent coachbuilders.

Interesting that you found exactly the same photo that I did of the Pobeda.
After looking on Google/US and Google/Russia, I finally found the photo of a "real" pickup on Google/Latvia!!

Not Leningrad, but Moscow, 1957.

But with that picture of the Pobeda pickup (slightly different maybe, but you explanation accounts for this, I guess). Here his your second point.

Thank y0u for the point..I was in balance between Leningrad and Moscow but the trolleybus seemed to be too dark for Moscow.
As trolleybuses are one of my main interests, can you identify the number on the front in your original picture?

To further fill out this puzzle, I believe the banner is celebrating the World Festival of Youth and Students held in Moscow in 1957.  I could not find this particular banner on the web yet but many similar motifs with the hand shaking etc.

As well, I post here a photo of a Polish Warszawa M-20 pickup which differs from the Russian version in that the rear fenders do not appear to be from the passenger car but continue straight out on the top.

Sorry I can't. Here is the full picture. I blew it up some for my puzzle picture, but it's not sharp enough to read it. 1833 maybe?

1833 fits the bill,as the  series was numbered 1701 to 2055 and delivered 1952 to 1959.
Bill is also correct, as the 6th festival of students was held in Moscow in july 1957.
