What car is this and from which year ?

mekubb

Too difficult for the Rookies ? Up !

nicanary

The racing number suggests a large field, but would not have applied to the Mille Miglia. Is this in Italy?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

mekubb

Yes it's in Italy. Not sure if there were that many cars in the race though...

bubenator

The twin oval vents remind me of the Cisitalia 202GS but the lower bodywork has some Nuvolari Spider cues.
Is it Cisitalia-related?

mekubb

No nothing to do with Cistitalia....

targhediferro

Mille Miglia numbers don't match with the number of cars taking part with the competition;  they show the start-hour of that car...so, if our quiz car has been pictured during a Mille Miglia, it started from Brescia at 10,13 a.m.
Has it Ermini connection?

mekubb

No Ermini connection. Checked my source, but the pic is not from Mille Miglia, although the driver did take part in the MM in the early fifties...

mekubb

No Osca and smaller engine

targhediferro

mekubb

Not Moretti, but 750 cc engine is right (downsized engine). A clue : it isn't a well-known make.... so not so easy

targhediferro

mekubb

Good guess but not Stanga, even more obscure. Some help: the downsized engine is from Lancia

targhediferro

Paganelli Lancia 750, 1952?

Paganelli Lancia 750, 1952?

You are close, not Paganelli but it DOES begin with a P. The year 1952 is right, so I lock it for you

targhediferro

I found two barchettas with 750 engine from Lancia Ardea; Pagani e Pasqualin...I guess on the second that seem more similar to the quiz car.
Lancia Ardea 750 sport Pasqualin, 1952

mekubb

With Pasqualin you are on the right track, the base car is from him, well found. But the car is known under another name according to my source, and that name is from the person who's idea it was to race with such a car. And the name of that person starts with a P as well, so P.....-Lancia. A clue : his name is more or less similar to a famous European capital... Still locked !

targhediferro

Parisi-Lancia 750 Pasqualin...I suppose Parisi drove it in Targa Florio 1952

mekubb

Not Parisi but the first 5 letters are right.... The picture is taken in the Coppa de Toscana I believe, if that helps...

targhediferro

Could it be the Parisotto derived from "Ardor", a Lancia Ardea Sport with an about 700 cc that run in 1950-1?

Iluvatar

On the side of the car there is maybe the Scuderia Patavium logo... and Parisotto was one of the founders of the Scuderia...

Parisotto is right ! My source calls it a Parisotto-Lancia, base car is from Pasqualin as mentioned earlier. The engine is a Lancia Ardea, downsized to 750 cc.

Well done, a point for you. Nice little sports car isn't it ?

targhediferro

Very nice. So short and low, with a 4V supercharged, it should have been a great fun to drive on Tuscany's hills.

mekubb

I wonder if the car still exists, would be nice to see live
