Not as far as I know. This vehicle was commissioned by an organisation that used the cable, rather than produced it.

It's not made by SD. The company concerned made a wide variety of one-off and specialised vehicles, but is best known for one particular type of utility vehicle.

The company that built this vehicle is still in business. Focus on what sort of vehicle this is based on, and I think you will soon find the manufacturer.

To gain a point, though, you will also need to find how this machine worked, and the key to that is what is in the large metal box mounted on the back. As said earlier, it is "seriously big", and we have established that it is not an electrical generator.

I've only just noticed your comment that there is an indirect link to airports. Is this truck based on an aircraft-towing vehicle ? Lansing-Bagnall ?

It is based on an airport tug, but not a Lansing-Bagnall.
