Hi cuda:
The extra knowledge we get from this site!!!!!!!!!!
Look at a high resolution map of the immediate area of Istanbul, Turkey. That is "Istanbul, not Constantinople".
You will see there is a definite body of water, which I have not identified yet, separating that small part of Turkey from what is considered "Western Asia". From what I can determine, that small portion of Turkey is considered part of "SouthEast Europe" and has been a bone of contention for perhaps centuries.
In modern times, it has become an issue in terms of such things as NATO membership, EEU membership and a host of other Pan European organizations that cannot seem to decide to which part of the world does Turkey really belong to.
For myself, I am pretty much neutral. Even though everyone says it will kill me, at 73 I still smoke Camel cigarettes, a "Turkish=Domestic Blend" dating from 1913
