It was a GM Styling proposal for a model that was to be built on the '80s J car North American  platform (front wheel drive)

They called it "Oldsmobile Mirage"

That's it. It, and the previously-puzzled Buick Turbo Hawk, both from 1977, looked much nicer than the badge-engineered Chevy Cavalier clones that came to market in the early 80's.
