Any Oldsmobile Toronado connection ?

sixtee5cuda

Little is known about this car, but it is not an Oldsmobile or a Toronado

mekubb

It looks like an 'official' factory design though, so it should be recorded somewhere. How about a Corvette show car ?

LOCKED for Mekubb

It is labelled as a Corvette Show Car.  Can you find a model designation and year?

Couldn't find a as show car but looking for Aero helped : Chevrolet Corvette XP 856 Aero Coupe from 1969. Seems that there is some mystery around this car.

The point is awarded to Mekubb for the correct answer.

I altered the image slightly in the grill area.  The word "Aero"...  (something else) did appear in the grill.

I can't recall ever finding another image of this car.  Judging by the grill design, I suspect it was intended as a Corvette for either Pontiac or Oldsmobile.

Actually there's quite a debate about whether the car is real or not . . . a few ex-GM styling employees have chimed in on other web sites that they were there when this car would have been created, and they never saw it before. With all the books and photos over the years featuring Corvette prototypes, why has this car not been seen until now? Oh well, we all love a mystery . . . .
