that's a rotary engine , and the car is an early 70's mercedes w107.

by doing more research that's the only mercedes wankel i got so i think  , its from the C111 , M 950 F Three-Rotor Wankel.

The C111 actually had a 4-rotor wankel.  That is the incredible engine placed in this Mercedes coupe.
