Some rookie fun here. What are we looking at?

For one point, please respond and identify this car.

Wendax

Rookies don't wanna have fun, so let the experts have it.

ropat53

It's pretty obvious the car is a Citroën Traction Avant with custom headlamps, but what's under the bonnet a non original engine or is it a petrol tank?

Take your choice and draw the conclusions.

Citroën 11 CV with a rear or central engine, must be a hot rod?

must be a hot rod?
I wouldn't call it that

Try on!

ropat53

Was it made in France?

Wendax

Wendax

Come on, folks! This is just a fun puzzle, have a try.

ropat53

I just can't find it, I've tried all the search combination I could imagine, with no result. Should I search in English or French?

Wendax

Just let your imagination flow. What comes to mind, if you have a European bitsa car with rear engine?

VW engine?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

Wendax

Yes, now put two and two together. What are we looking at?

I don't understand German, but I think it says it's a Citroen 11CV body on a VW floor platform, but I couldn't work out who did it or why  :sigh:

Hiawatha

Not here to steal a point, but I think that D Type found the answer. If I understand correctly the car was made in France in the 60s using the front body part of a Citroen 11 mated to the back part of a VW Beetle with VW mechanical parts. I can also add that it was a cabriolet and it was for sale on e-bay in 2012.

Yes, that's about it and enough for a point in this fun-based puzzle. Hiawatha has added some more information. It was built in France in the 60s, mating a Citroen 11 CV front end to a 1959 VW Beetle platform and rear end. I will add some more pictures on Monday, as I have them on another computer.

Carnut

That'll teach them to leave a Traction parked next to a Beetle in the same garage overnight...!
