Have to start somewhere.

Phänomen mid to late 1930's?

It won't be a long journey. Phänomen it is. Give me the model designation and the point is yours. Locked for you.

Bill Murray

I was afraid you would ask the second half of the question.

I could not find anything resembling your pic, I suspect it was coach built, but it does sort of fit the K-4 series in terms of size and time period.

Wendax

The answer is easier than you might think, because it is not coachbuilt, so that it shares its name with a well known model.

Bill Murray

Sorry, I needed to look a bit further.

It would be Granit, probably a Granit 30.

Yes, that's what it is. The Granit was available with a factory-built streamline body. It was advertised as "Die neue Linie" (The new line), but it can't have been a success, because there are hardly any pictures of this version around. It was probably more expensive than the standard model without offering any advantages other than modern looks, as Phänomen trucks usually weren't used for longer distances at high speeds turning the improved aerodynamics into earned value.

Bill Murray

Yup, pretty rare variant I suspect.
Here is the only other photo I have come across so far.
