This special is known as the BAL Salamander. Despite the wheels, it's based on Mini mechinicals. The 1000cc engine is behind a lid in the pointed tail. It was beautifully made by an enthusiast who sold it last year.
I should have bought it...

You are right. I just knew about the BAL name and the Austin rear engine. The current seller (in Germany) says that according to the papers it has an Austin A 40 engine.
