Solved: Wendax 745 - Mercedes-Benz 190 D Super
« on: December 09, 2012, 03:11:45 AM »
An easy Rookie puzzle (mainly).

For one point, please respond and tell me what we are looking at, what it was called and which country this conversion came from. Additional info is welcome as I don't know who was responsible for this.

Looks like a 1960s Mercedes 190 with a front end conversion kit to make it appear to be a 1964-ish Mercedes 280SE. Portugal maybe?

You got the right idea, but you need to be a bit more precise. Which 1960s Mercedes-Benz 190 do you mean? Furtheron there was no 280 SE in 1964.

Portugal maybe?
No

I'm gonna take a stab at this ........ 1961 190D modified with 1962 220 headlights and split bumper. Country of origin ... Brasil?
Are those Porsche wheels and caps?
Could this also be a custom by Senor Schiemann and Márcio Piancastelli, it bear some stylistic similarities to their Karman Ghia.

Yes, it is a 190 D (W 121 B I) with headlights and other details of a W 111 Mercedes-Benz, for example a 220 (S / SE). That's correct.

It is not from Brasil.
The wheels look like Mercedes-Benz wheels to me, with the chrome rims of the 220 SE and a little extra chrome instead of lacquer on the hubcaps.
I don't know who was responsible for this conversion.

Country and name still to be found. Locked for two more tries.

I think it is a stock Ponton, hooped up with the lights and chrome of the later S-class or Heckflosse etc., or do you think it was an official MB car?

No, I don't think it is a stock MB car. It surely is a conversion which looks rather professionally made to me. As I said, additional information - especially about its builder - is welcome.
