Did the company still exist post WW I?

Wendax

Yes, the company existed until 1947

Wendax

Neither Beer nor from Zwickau

Was the coachbuilder situated in the Eastern half of Germany?

Wendax

No more ideas, anybody?

woodinsight

I must admit I'd forgotten about this one.
I'll have another search as soon as I can...... ;)

I think it is one-off:

a 1914 Brennabor 5/15 PS Sport-Zweisitzer
with an aftermarket 1923 body, made by Wendler / Reutlingen.

It was built by Wendler´s head designer, Helmut Schwandner, as his own ride.

Then one of us must be wrong, because Wendler has produced special bodywork for cars at least until 1963...

Wendax

There are astonishing similarities between those two cars, but also differences. I have the puzzle car as a Mercedes from a small coachbuilder, and I regard my source as trustworthy. But a very interesting connection indeed.

grobmotorix

Yes, now that I had a closer look, I have to say that mine is smaller.

But maybe the link is the designer, Mr. Schwandner?

Wendax

I don't know whether he worked at the coachbuilder in question, before he went to Wendler, sorry. According to the Wendler book he rather didn't.

Wendax

The coachbuilder in question was mentioned once before at AutoPuzzles as a wrong guess.

A-Ha!
......the only problem is there are so many possibilities but let's try Buhne, not obscure but.....

Wendax

Much more obscure than Buhne
