Special pro offer: four cars for the price of two!
You can see four cars in the picture below. Three of them come from well known manufacturers, one doesn't.
For one point, please respond and identify the rare car.
Another point is on offer for the puzzler identifying the manufacturers of the other three cars.
Happy puzzling!
-
Is the photo available online?
-
It was available online. Let your grey cells do the work ;)
Three of them are easy!
-
were the three cars made by Protos?
-
No, perhaps you got me wrong. The three "easy" cars were made by three different, but well known makers. None of them was Protos.
-
is that a NAG in the far left corner?
-
No
-
is it a Beckmann (far left corner)?
-
No
-
is one of the cars a Falcon?
-
No
-
is there a Brennabor (maybe the right corner)?
-
Is the first on the left an Hansa, perhaps an M6?
-
No Brennabor, no Hansa
-
is that a Stoewer at the left?
-
No
-
do we have a Dürkopp in the picture?
-
No
-
I guess the obscure one is the second from right...From the left, I would say the others may be Audi, Dixi and Opel.
-
I'm not sure whether we are talking about the same "left" and "right". In order to avoid confusion, I have added numbers to the picture, so that we can refer to the cars as #1, #2, #3 and #4.
There is a Dixi in the picture, but neither an Audi nor an Opel.
-
Are there only German cars?
According to your replies, is this correct, so far?
1- Not Protos, Falcon, Brennabor, Dürkopp, Audi, Opel, NAG, Beckmann, Hansa, Stoewer
2- Not Protos, Falcon, Brennabor, Dürkopp, Audi, Opel
3- Not Protos, Falcon, Brennabor, Dürkopp, Audi, Opel
4- Not Protos, Falcon, Brennabor, Dürkopp, Audi, Opel
-

Yes, and one of them is a Dixi.
-
I think no. 1 may be a Dixi 6/24
-
The Dixi 6/24 PS is not #1.
-
the Dixi should be No4
-
No
-
I meant that the Dixi is the number 3. And I think n.2 is the obscure marque one. Is number 1 a Steiger?
-
I meant that the Dixi is the number 3.
Exactly!
And I think n.2 is the obscure marque one.
I won't comment.
Is number 1 a Steiger?
No
-
Is number 1 an Horch?
-
Right again!
-
Car number #4 : A Dux?
-
Number 4 perhaps a Mauser, and number 2 a Simson-Supra?
-
No Dux, no Mauser, no Simson-Supra here.
-
Number 2 an EGO, and n.4 an AGA?
-
Neither nor
-
Is number 4 an Adler?
-
Is #2 perhaps a Selve?
-
#4 NSU?
-
Is number 4 an Adler?
No
Is #2 perhaps a Selve?
No
#4 NSU?
Yes! Now we have the cars by the well known manufacturers. One point is awaiting you, ropat53, when the remaining car #2 is identified.
-
Is #2 perhaps a Körting?
-
No

Happy puzzling!

-
Is number 2 is a Carl Benz & Sohne ?
-
Let's tie the time frame down a little tighter. Is car #2 from the time period 1919-1925, by a builder that only existed during that period?
-

If you enlarge that time span a little, you are right.

Something has been bothering me for a couple of days. When you said no to the Simson-Supra, you didn't say no to the Simson, like you did to the Ehrhardt-Szawe/ Szawe. Was this just an oversight, or was it deliberate? In other words, might #2 be a Simson (not a Simson-Supra)?
-
No, I would have told you, if your answer was partially right. :)
It is not a Simson either.

Is it perhaps a Peter Moritz?...I found a picture from 1922 that, apart from front light, could be similar.

AAA?
-
Finally we are getting somewhere. It is not an AAA, but closely related.
Locked for you to find out more.
(Why don't you guys search alphabetically? :hah: )
-
Well, among the many things I learned by digging for this quiz, I discovered that AAA (Aktiengesellshaft Akkumulatoren Automobilbau), after changing its name into Electric in 1921, from 1922 to 1926 built some cars under the Alfi logo. I suppose the quiz car is an ALFI, perhaps a 4/14 PS.
-
Yes, it is an Alfi, but it is a bit larger than the 4/14 PS.
Still locked for you.
-
Alfi 5/20ps?
-
Yes, a hard-earned point for you.
