This car is unknown to me, but I have an idea about its manufacturer. I only know when (and probably where) this picture was taken.
For one point, please respond and identify this car.

Is it a modified Hanomag?
-
That's what I think. Do you have further information?
-
I´m not sure, but this could be a 1938 Alpenfahrt or "2000km durch Deutschland" Spezialcoupé.
The 1939 Hanomag coupés and convertibles looked different.
But at the 1939 Alpenfahrt race there was one convertible that might be a 1938 version.
It has a very similar front end.(upper photo)
The coupé roof with the significant front screens and the rest of the body looks very much like that of the 1939 coupés (below)

Very interesting! Believe it or not, you found the car. "Your" convertible has the same license plate as "my" coupe. I think it is time to reveal the whereabouts of the puzzle picture. It was taken during the Liège-Rome-Liège rallye, supposedly in Liège at the start of the 1938 edition. It seems as if the puzzle coupe was converted into the 1939 Alpenfahrt convertible.
Do you have further information about the technical base of this Hanomag rallye special? Rekord like the other coupe?

On that picture you can see some cars already featured here before:

Oh, wow - that´s highly interesting, indeed.
My convertible featured a 2250ccm engine, was driven by Karl Haeberle (with co-driver H. Walter) and took part in the 1939 Alpenfahrt...
The 2250ccm engine was only available in the Sturm, and I´m quite sure it was indeed a converted Hanomag Sturm.
Karl Haeberle was a Hanomag engineer and drove some interesting other race cars.
We know this one here, too:

A well-earned point for you.
