Thanks Gerd.

That only leaves the whole rest of the left hand drive world :lmao: :lmao:

Probably some obscure German brand that you seem to find all the time and no one else can........

Yes, German.

The brand has been mentioned at AutoPuzzles before, but which one hasn't?  ;D

The design of this little truck reminds me to early '50 Faun....is it one of those, perhaps a prototype?

Wow, sometimes fishermans are lucky. You "almost" bring me to a brother-brand of Ostner; the only one I know is O.D. and the only model of that firm that can match with quiz-truck dimension is the Rex 4...but I haven't found a picture of one with those kind of front and doors. Anyway I guess O.D. Rex 4.

Absolutely correct, it is an early postwar OD Rex 4. On the attached picture you can see that both the original factory in the the Soviet zone (Brand-Erbisdorf, the former Elite factory) and the new one in the American zone (Sulzbach-Rosenberg) are mentioned. Shortly afterwards, the West German company turned to the Ostner brand.

Thank you Gerd, both for the point and for posting this interesting leaf; I read something about Ostner-Dresden Rex today, and I understood that Rex 4 was offered with a 1172 cc Ford Eifel Engine, and with a 2 cyl. 474cc Dkw engine: do you know which of the two version is pictured in your quiz? Were they different in anyway?

The leaflet speaks of it being a 1 ton truck, so that would make it a Ford-engined one.

The truck pictured appears to have a rear differential.  Wouldn't the DKW-engined version would have been front wheel drive?

Hi All:

Congratulations, Fabrizio....  I had the answer as well but it was locked for you and honestly since you posted first I hoped you would find the answer which you did.

Below are what I believe are 4 more pages from the sales brochure that Gerd posted the cover page for.
This may help with some of the questions.

Edit:  Well, I messed up the photo size again, I will fix it later, and there were three photos not four

Thank you very much, Bill! I just knew the page I posted. The brochure was printed in Saxony, probably in 1949. It would be interesting to know whether this little truck was built in the west or the east. I haven't found any mention of this version in any of the books I have. It doesn't look like the prewar O.D. and not like the postwar West German Ostner Rex.
