It was used by Wiener Linien (or WVB which is the same company), well found. I just had a caption for this bus picture as Gräf & Stift WVB which I took accidentily as the model designation. But further research unearthed a type name, a combination of a letter and a two-digit number which seems most likely to be correct.

Locked for you to have a try.

Oh oh ! I have a list of Wiener Linien types named bustypseit1946 and none of the Gräfs bears a combination of a letter and a two-digit number.  How come ?

Well, you probably have better sources than I have. I was looking for U10, but that can be wrong. Perhaps you can identify this bus in your list when looking at the two unmodified pictures I have.

I found a similar bus with the designation 5G U 10, but it's obviously younger than yours (1959).Also the one in your puzzle looks more interurban than urban.

Yes, "my" bus seems to be a special one. On the lower picture the destination sign says Sonderwagen, meaning special car.

The 5G U 10 TS was in service with Wiener Linien from 1959 'til 1979, Betriebsnummer 8591 - 8599 (Bustypen der Wiener Linien seit 1946).  It should be this one.

The puzzle bus is supposed to be from 1953 (and it looks older than 1959).

I have this one as a U10:

Looking at that list I think it should be a TS - U10 (or a TSZT-4GW?).

I'll give one point each to Hiawatha and pguillem, and called this puzzle solved.  :)
