Solved: Wendax 1071 - MWF bus
« on: November 16, 2013, 01:36:00 AM »
A huge convertible.

For one point, please respond and identify this bus. The marque is sufficient to obtain the point.

Oh, wow, I only had one photo from the side in a book, that resembled the cooler mask from your puzzle pic. ::)

Well done, Burkhard, I salute you :applause: :applause:

I had convinced myself this was a Polizie Bus because of the large searchlight on the back and the direction signal on the front even if the driver was not a Polizie.

I therefore spent about two hours on some books I have on the subject plus the web and came up with zilch.

Quite a rare marque indeed.

Certainly, if you Google that word either as "Google" or "Google images" that is what appears.

"Open Touring Bus" seems to be the operative description and this puzzle fits that description even if I personally got misled by the conception that it was a Police bus.

Edit:  A better literal translation is "Chair Car".

Is this what was meant by a 'charabanc'

"Carriage with wooden benches" seems to be the literal translation from the original French.
I've never seen one that wasn't open but I believe they could also be closed; that's not the meaning of the word today, though: they all seem to be open.
