Fiat 500 B (topolino), based. Is it a one-off?

Paul Jaray

So far so good.
I don't know how many were built, but I suspect it's a one-off.

targhediferro

Did it take part in the Targa Florio?

Paul Jaray

I don't know...I've just a name  :-\ .

targhediferro

As you well know, plenty of home-made barchettas were built on Fiat 500 base soon after the end of WWII, and they are often very similar each other.
I found a picture of a car that has quite a similitude with quiz car, is it from the same builder?  It's a Fiat 750 (500 base), Pini, from 1947.  I guessed that quiz car was a 500 B (so from 1948) because of the light colour of the wheels, but it could be a 500 A as well.

Paul Jaray

Not the name I have...and you are right, I know it's Topolino-based, nothing more (like the version or the year)

FRIUL LIBAR

Could it be Macchi of Varese? The car I've seen by them looks different, but the shape of the grille and the badge look similar.

Paul Jaray

Not Beccaria or Macchi.

targhediferro

I saw about 100 different barchettas without finding this one. Is it perhaps from Sicily? If yes by Minoia?

Paul Jaray

Not by Minoia.
I don't think it's from Sicily.
Hope this helps:

Carnut

Is it a well-known constructor, like Giannini?

I must confess I've never heard of him.
It is not mentioned in 'La sport e i sui artigiani' or in any books I saw so far.
This picture comes from his son and the caption says more or less "my father Alberto ____'s topolino"
His name was Alberto.
Hope it helps.

Paul Jaray

I tried myself to google those words in Italiano and I thought the car wasn't there!
Well done again Pal, a point for you!

Hiawatha

Well done indeed, Pal ..
There is one thing I can't understand, however. AN 4515 licence plate was issued in early 1934,well before the first 500A appeared in 1936. Any thoughts?

targhediferro

I suppose it could be AN 14515....in my archive I have another 500 barchetta, with plate AN 14514, but I cannot remember where I saw it.

Paul Jaray

I hope you'll find it back.
In the meantime, point added and topic moved!
