For my 500th puzzle, I made a blunder. So I decided to delete it (though ropat53 received a point) and replace it with a more challenging picture
Who's the builder? And a year would also be great for a point
-
Czech? If yes perhaps a Jawa.
-
not Czech

I was wondering what had happened to the other puzzle very easy indeed, thank you for the point.

This was the easy part :) Yes, this is Hungarian. It is not impossible to find the builder as he was known outside of Hungary as well.
-
Did Josef Ganz have anything to do with this car, it looks somewhat related to the Standard Superior?
I know these are two questions, but can this car or the maker be found in your site?
-
It's not Josef Ganz. Yes, you can find the builder on my site, his other car got his own wikipedia page (in English)
-
Jenő Fejes?
-
Janos Pentelényi of Pente 500
-
Locked for Wendax. It was built by Jenő Fejes. Give me a year and the point is yours
-
According to many sources he went bankrupt in 1929 and didn't design cars afterwards. So I try 1929, although the car looks a bit more modern than that.
-
Go with that hunch (the car is younger than 1929). You have one more try
-
I'll try 1934.
-
Okay, the point is yours as you were very close. As you pointed out Jenő Fejes, who built some interesting cars in the 1920s went bankrupt by 1929.
But he had one last try. A man, who interviewed his former collegaues in the 1960s claimed that he was financed by a blacksmith, but I recently received the puzzle photo from the family of a man, who was the real investor. This guy was a director of a furniture factory and Fejes approached him with a novel idea. The result was the puzzle car in 1935. Unfortunately technical details did not survive. There's another photo, which shows the front of the car, but I have yet to receive it.
-
Interesting story, looking forward to the other picture's appearance. Thanks for the point.

Here in Letchworth when the Ascot-Pullin motorcycle company moved to car production in 1928 they tried one of Fejes' designs but I have never seen a photo of the car that they made. I do not know if they made any, rather than assembling from imported parts, and it did not go into production here.
-
Yeah, I tried to look into that. It seems the company was organised but I doubt if there were any cars assembled.
