You're quite right. The surname of founder Archie was hyphenated, but the company was not, although it was hyphenated much later!
I was surprised that this has not been a puzzle before now. A small series of these cars was begun in 1935, and they were generally used for the sprints and hillclimbs which were popular in the UK at the time. Ace driver was of course A F P Fane.
