BMW 2002 Tii Coupe.

I've seen it captioned as that before, but I don't believe it's correct.
Locked for you to look into it further and say what it really is (it's quite close actually).

Should it be 2000 instead of 2002 because it seems to be too early for a prototype for the 2002 saloon of the late sixties.

That's it, yes.
It's a proposed Tii Coupe version of the original 2000.
Well done.

Here's the front view and the un-modified puzzle photo, although for some reason I note the registration plates are different front and rear.  Also why is this BMW Stuttgart-registered?  Who was there?  Karmann?

Time to add some information: It is a 1964 proposal for a BMW 1800 Coupé, designed by Hermann Wenzelburger for his employer, Karosserie Baur in Stuttgart. This Baur Coupé didn't make it beyond a full-scale plaster model. The BMW 2000 tii didn't appear before 1969.

Thanks!  All captions are wrong then; I wish I'd known that before I agreed 2000 Tii was right, but although based on the 1800 it seemed feasible to me that they were already looking at 2000 models some years before they actually appeared, plus the possibility of a Tii version.
Of course, Baur - that explains the Stuttgart registration.
