Judging by its shininess it has to be either in the US or in Germany! ;D

Found it meanwhile : 1931 Riley Special by Robert McNair from New Zealand, powered by a De Havilland Tiger Moth (really cool...), it is based on a Riley 9

Pedantically, the motor is a de Havilland Gipsy Moth.  The engine is mounted in the car (apparently) upside-down, facing rearwards, and SOLIDLY mounted. Can you imagine the vibration? I doubt if you'd need first gear though........

This photo shows the exhaust arrangement.

Even more pedantically the de Havilland Gipsy Moth was an aeroplane not an engine! The DH 60 Moth came with either Cirrus or Gipsy engines and was therefore called Cirrus Moth or Gipsy Moth as appropriate.
The de Havilland Gipsy series of engines started as normal upright aircooled inline engines but in 1931 or so the Gipsy III was re-engineered to run inverted and all subsequent Gipsy engines were like that. The Gipsy III was renamed Gipsy Major after a few years and it's most likely the engine in that Riley is one such, as the DH82 Tiger Moth had Gipsy Major power so "Tiger Moth engine" is correct so far as it goes.

ETA there's a Yourtube video of him telling us about it and driving it. Mustn't link it but the title is Riley Sports car with DH Tiger Moth Airplane Engine.

Whoops ! I put in an extraneous word which exacerbated my pedantry. Thanks Allan, and apologies Norman. Why oh why do I do this?

(I'd still like a go in that car, though.)
