It's Australian, but not Holden, Ford 1172 or (by inference) MG powered.  It looks like a late 50s/early 60s design, so I'm thinking which engines were readily available at that time?

BMC power?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Known as the K4 Special, it had an Austin K4 6 cylinder engine, and was raced in Tasmania c1966.
Here is Bernard Harbeck at Baskerville in 1966.

PM sent!  ;)

Very good, that is it of course!

The Austin K4 was a truck, so that must be how this special got its name.  There is much speculation on the sites where it appears which 6-cylinder Austin engine was installed, whether it was from a Sheerline or indeed from a truck, but I would say its name confirms that it did indeed have a truck engine!

Quite a bargain for $500, although I think it might cost a little more than that today...!

Well done.

Well, I would never have got that one - I was thinking along the lines of an A-series engine. The mention of the K4 always reminds me of the ambulance in "Ice cold in Alex", even though that one was a K3 I think. What an odd motor to fit in a sports car - must have been "lying around", but just think of the torque!

I'm rather intrigued by that mean-looking racing Triumph Herald in the background chasing the K4.  Does anyone have any information about this car please?  Thanks.
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

You have to look for who raced in Baskerville in 1966 or into 'Tasmanian Motorist Magazine' of January 1967...this pic cames from there .

You almost deserve a point for recognising that as a Triumph Herald!
