Crikey, I know policemen used to be tall but...!
I wonder if that car is related?  I can't say I know whether it is or not, but the puzzle car is not pedal-powered!

The photo used by Wendax shows the pedal car I was thinking about in my previous post. It's even got the spinners on the wheels. Spooky.

Is this puzzle image available on the net, or is it something found by the Ulster side of your family to torment us?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Yes, Wendax's picture looks awfully similar so there could be some connection..
I got the picture (and another) from the'Net.

Is this the elusive Watsonian Cheetah Cub?  From the 1960s, powered by a single-cylinder 75cc 4-stroke engine, intended for children to use.

Unusual about it:  The windscreen is taller than stock, perhaps indicating this unit was customized for adult use.

More:  Customized for famous person of lesser stature, Davy Jones of Lisburn.

You've found it!
I just had it as Davy Jones's Wee Car, but is it a Watsonian Cheetah?
It looks remarkably like the car Wendax posted so I was pretty sure it was one of those but adapted for use by Davy Jones, who was somewhat diminutive in size.  The screen is of course very tall, but all I wanted was some reference to the size of this road-going car!

Here's another picture of Davy with his car together with the original puzzle photo before cropping:

This reminds me greatly of that Triang (?) toy car in the Jag D-type style that was around in the 60s, which I think was a pedal car. Now, as I live in Northern Ireland, I really ought to get this one, but I haven't a clue.

Does it reside in the Ulster Transport Museum?

I don't think so but I might be wrong.

Jones' car at Ulster Transport Museum  ;D
