Is it a retro bodied Derby Bentley dating from about 1990

Yes, a real beauty.  But it's not a Bentley..

1937 Alvis 4.3 SC Vanden Plas Sports Tourer

..because it is indeed an Alvis 4.3
But take another look into it to tell me more accurately what it is, because this car is not from 1937..

So then it must be a brand new Alvis "Continuation" 4.3 Litre Series.
"The Alvis Car Company Limited will produce the 4.3 Litre car in newly completed facilities at it's Kenilworth site in collaboration with it's sister company Red Triangle"

Yes it is.
It's a continuation because a batch of chassis numbers was allocated in 1939 but which was never used due to the intervention of WW2.  Now they are going to use them with these new cars, although I'm not sure where they're going to get the engines from..

Possibly from some military vehicle or "new old" spares as Alvis produced several armoured cars, scout cars, etc so presumably thes used the same basic engine.
