Ah Norman, you should have never left the grille badge in the picture. That badge is red meat to this old hot rodder whose first production was a similar car using nearly the same base. It still took some serious research to find the needed puzzle details, but in the end I was able to find a sale advert which contained the required data.
The badge is that of a Crosley, but whereas I started with a '49 convertible, this base is a 1950 Crosley Hot Shot roadster. The body on this one is mostly fiberglass, using a molded Cobra like front, and a modified Corvette rear with '46 Cadillac taillites and gas filler. Whereas (since, as a 1956 high schooler, I knew almost nothing about fiberglass) I modified the standard Crosley front clip, and added a totally custom sheet metal rear from the windshield back, including similar entrance cut outs and a rear deck mounted spare. The puzzle car retains the original frame, Crosley engine and transmission, whereas, although I loved the little four banger, I hated the Crosley transmission, so I traded the Crosley package for a Ford flathead V-8 and tranny, and modified the frame to an "X-type" design in order to lower the belly pans to within three inches of the roadway.
Ah yes, Norman, this one brings back the memories.
