Whew, a lot of work, this one.

Volvo LV 112, chassis made in 1940.
Body was done by Karosserie Aune of Stjoerdal, Norway in 1946 if my translation is correct.
It was sold to NSB Biltrafikk in 1957, again if my translation is correct.

One question.....

As you know, I worked for Volvo for 12 years including 2 years living in Sweden so the basic answer was not too difficult.

But.... In spite of finding your photo on multiple sites, I still do not find what kind of vehicle it was.  It appears on multiple "bus" sites but it does not look like a bus to me.  Even on the site devoted to the bus company that eventually purchased it, it does not give the purpose.

To me, it looks like some sort of armoured truck, possibly to transport money deposits "Brinks" here in the US, or even a Police prisoner van, looking at what looks like iron bars on the windows.

Do you have any further information??

Volvo is not my forte, my first impression was that it could have bee a sort of Prison bus, but I am not sure at all.
Body construction seems to be fairly crude. Only thing I can add is that NSB were and are the Norwegian State Railways and that the vehicle belonged to to the Road transport branch of that organization. Also if I read my Norwegian correctly Aune are still operating..

Perhaps it is something like the German Landpostwagen which were used for transporting passengers and goods as well. They look like vans  with just one window at each side behind the driver's cabin. The bars could have been fixed there to prevent the load from damaging the windows.

I think Gerd is on the right track here.
I would think that it is either a post wagon or what they call in Scandanivia, a Paketbil.  These are similar to today's UPS/DHL local delivery trucks that deliver small packages to homes and businesses.

Trying to find an email address for Aune is harder than identifying the truck, but if I do find it I will forward this thread to them and ask if they can ID the truck.
