Sorry, Canary.......

Holtville Drag Strip, Holtville, Ca.  18 Feb, 1958.
Also the home of the Carrot Festival from your other photo.

May I say on behalf of nicanary and myself, the geographic clues were quite misleading.  I lived in both San Diego and El Centro and also raced at Holtsville.  Both of those towns are a hell of a long way from San Diego.
Edit:  125 miles and 2 hours on modern Interstates but it used to take me 3 hours in the early 1960's.

It's closer than Muroc (now Edwards), and Orange County airport, guessed earlier.

I'm sorry you didn't like the clues, even though it seems this puzzle went nowhere without them, and was quickly solved after they were given. :huh:

I'm also sorry you drive like and old lady, and it took you three hours to drive there. I've given you the point anyway.  ;)
