1969 Project X design study for the legendary SP2 VW sports coupe. Lead by Rudolf Leiding, designers...Senor Schiemann(with other designers), helped create this machine. The 1st prototype was shown at the March 1971 German Trade Fair Industry. The 1st prototype, differered from the production version,  in slight areas...most notably...the lack of air intake openings on the prototype...that were then incooperated into the production version.

You've found the right car.
I have the name of the designer I think was responsible for this sketch though.
Can you give me his name (hopefully I'm right..)?

The sketch is by Jose Vicente Martins. Here are the names of the people involved with the Project X/SP2. Rudolf Leiding-project leader, Senor Schiemann-design team leader, Jose Vicente Martins-designer,Jorge Oba-designer,Marcio Piancastelli-designer. You expecting me to say Luigi Segre from Carrozzeria Ghia??? As, I understand it...Jose Vicente Martins..studied under luigi Segre in 1962. I sure hope this is good enough to solve this puzzle. I cant go back in time and trace every single detail.

Yes, you've given me the name in your list of those involved.
I believed Marcio Piancastelli was responsible for this particular sketch but to tell you the truth I'm not really sure of it so we'll call it solved!
