The Antipodes ?

Nope..

(Nicely covers 2 questions in 1 but it would still take 2 questions to find which one!)

That answers the first question, as that is indeed what this car is said to be based on..

OK. The photo was taken in Sunderland, Co Durham, and shows the great-aunt of the photo supplier, who lives in Alberta, Canada.

The car registration suggests late 1929, which would be the date of first registration of the donor vehicle, probably an Austin 7hp. The conversion to the more modern body style possibly took place in the 50s (shades of TR2 in the styling) and at the very latest the early 60s. The family came from Easington Colliery (and having travelled extensively around the pit villages of that area I can advise forum members - don't bother!).

I can find no further information on the car.

I can find this car on a now-defunct site, so I cannot obtain information, and on a Spanish picture-gallery. And the main information came from a site which did not give the lady's name !

Given the area , I'll go for Robson. (about 50% of people in the NE are called Robson).

H'away !

I can tell you the car is no longer registered with the DVLA. What a shock.

I'm not sure if this is unlocked, or not, but, if it isn't, here's a present for nicanary.  The name of the woman standing by the Austin 7 based sports car in Sunderland, County Durham, is Elizabeth McKenzie.

No, it wasn't locked and Yes, that was indeed her name!
That's half a point each then...!

That's just like the days of yesteryear when Niki Lauda won the WDC by half a point or something. Thanks anyway.

(I joined that forum just to find out more, but couldn't get what I was looking for, just like U2)
