Is it MX5/Miata - based ?

(I've just looked at images of MX5-based replicas, and I've had to sit down with a strong cup of tea. My eyes ! )

No, this one isn't.
There are hundreds that are and I nearly downloaded one today to post as a puzzle but I thought it looked a bit too easy so I didn't bother; it looked just like an early '60s Fiat or Simca Abarth!  Quite nice actually!

It's an RD Wasp, built by Bruce Stratton and Rob Trainer at Composites International, Ardmore, NZ. It's a development of the Ibis car featured recently, and Mini powered. I can't find a firm date, but they moved to Ardmore in 1980, and I reckon it's just after that.

Yes, you're right.
I'd actually saved this to post with my earlier Ibis puzzle but it somehow got itself numbered in the Wasp puzzle so got inadvertantly posted there!

I've now posted it where it should have been all along and removed it from this thread.

The RD Wasp was, of course, a development of the Ibis, so there was a strong connection there..
